Dr. Ruisha Rosita Zhang - Concert Pianist
Dr. Ruisha Rosita Zhang is an active concert pianist and pedagogue. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Claremont Graduate University and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from Westminster Choir College, and a Suzuki-trained piano educator. She has performed extensively across the United States—on both the West and East Coasts—as well as in China and Hong Kong. Her repertoire spans from Baroque and Classical masterworks to the Romantic and twentieth-century canon, demonstrating stylistic authority and interpretative depth. She studied piano performance with Dr. Nadia Shpachenko, Eduardus Halim, Dr. James Goldsworthy, and Phyllis Lehrer, establishing a strong artistic foundation that continues to shape her concert work. In addition to her solo career, she is an active chamber musician. As a Suzuki-trained piano educator (through Book 6 with Sachiko Isihara, Faye Adams, and Diana Galindo), Dr. Zhang combines the listening-centered philosophy of the Suzuki Method with rigorous technical and musical training. Her students are laureates of numerous international competitions and consistently achieve high distinctions in grading examinations, such as ABRSM, NFMC. Her doctoral research focused on historical keyboard performance practice and its implications for early piano pedagogy, reflecting her commitment to connecting European musical traditions with contemporary educational approaches. She regularly presents lecture-recitals and pedagogical seminars and is a member of MTNA, CAPMT, and the Dalcroze Society of America.
