Dandan Hammer-Zheng - Concert Pianist
Chinese concert pianist Dandan Hammer-Zheng blends technical brilliance with tonal depth and interpretive sensitivity. Her performances are noted for expressive clarity, poetic nuance, and a balance between tradition and contemporary openness.
She studied at the Music High School of the Central Conservatory in Beijing, continued with Prof. Pi-hsien Chen at the University of Music and Dance Cologne, and completed her concert examination with Prof. James Tocco at the University of Music Lübeck. She also received guidance from Bruno Leonardo Gelber, Vladimir Krainev, Michel Béroff, Detlef Kraus, Oxana Yablonskaya, Konstantin Lifschitz, and Hans Leygraf.
An award-winning pianist, she has received prizes at major competitions, including the 5th Munich Youth Piano Podium, the International Johannes Brahms Piano Competition, and the Dichler Competition in Vienna.
Her concerts have taken her to renowned venues worldwide, including Beijing Concert Hall, Steinway House Düsseldorf, Bechstein Center Cologne, Immanuel Church Wuppertal, and Auditorium Nice. She has performed contemporary works at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr and collaborated with orchestras such as the Junge Symphonieorchester Koblenz, the State Symphony Orchestra Lipetsk, and the International Ensemble Modern Academy.
A dedicated chamber musician and interdisciplinary artist, she has worked with clarinetist Shelly Ezra and performed for the NDR Kultur “Young Artists from the North” program and the Menuhin Music Foundation.
Since 2020, she has been teaching in Hamburg and serving as a competition jury member. As artistic director of Sonus Musicorum, she curates international concerts that foster dialogue between diverse musical traditions.
