Alexander Krel - Violinist

Alexander Krel was born in 1987 in the Ural region of Russia and began intensive musical training in the fundamentals of the Russian violin school at the Music Lyceum in Magnitogorsk at the age of six. In 1996, he continued his violin studies at the Lübeck Music School under Mr. V. Goldfeld.

In 2005, he began his formal studies at the Lübeck University of Music with Prof. M. Egelhof and later completed his diploma at the Johannes Brahms Conservatory in Hamburg with Prof. F. Mamedsade. His musical development was supported from 1999 to 2009 by the Rotary Club and from 2001 to 2010 by the Johannes Kuhn Foundation in Hamburg.

Alexander Krel has won several national competitions, including multiple first prizes at the Jugend musiziertcompetition at the federal level. He has also participated in various international festivals for young artists, including the 2007 Moritzburg Festival under Jan Vogler and the “Young German-French-Hungarian Philharmonia” Festival in Bayreuth in 2008 and 2009 under Nicolaus Richter.

He has been invited to perform in selected concert projects with James Gaffigan, Jan Vogler, Nigel Kennedy, Frank Peter Zimmermann, and David Garrett. Alexander Krel is also active with the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg in collaborative projects. Numerous concert tours have taken him to Spain, France, Italy, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, China, South Korea, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

Currently, Alexander Krel is a sought-after violin instructor in Hamburg and has been a partner of Associate Prof. Martynas Švėgžda von Bekker since 2014. The success of his teaching is reflected in the many awards his students have won, including at the Tchaikovsky Instrumental and Vocal Competition in Hamburg and Jugend musiziert.

In the joint violin class for students and young talents, he is responsible for discovering and developing young violinists through pedagogical methodology. He also organizes joint student and conservatory concerts, solo and chamber music performances, as well as masterclasses.

In 2012, his organizational and cultural management skills were recognized by the world-renowned prima ballerina Polina Semionova, who enlisted him for her Hamburg engagements.

In 2016, Alexander Krel became a member of the Alternative Academy of Arts (AAofA), where he serves as a consultant on musical and coordination matters and also participates as a performing artist.

In May 2017, he assisted at the International Masterclass for Violin and Chamber Music with Assoc. Prof. Martynas Švėgžda von Bekker at the Alfred Schnittke International Academy in Hamburg, and in August 2017, he served as violin instructor at the Music Festival at the Conservatory in Klaipėda. Since 2018, he has conducted his own annual masterclass/workshop for children and youth in Hamburg, lasting five days and concluding with a final concert.

In December 2017, he toured Asia for three weeks with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra under chief conductor Lior Shambadal, performing 14 successful concerts across China and Taiwan.

Since 2018, Alexander Krel has also been a faculty member at the Hamburg Conservatory, where he continues to teach and mentor young violinists.
